Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was an actress on television, former chef of the Institute of Culinary Education and she was formerly an instructor of cooking. She is the host of Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and also serves as co-hosting Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, with her signature spiky blonde locks and her edgy personality on Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Cook series, reveals an easy and straightforward cooking techniques that are suitable for the home cook. Chef Burrell also has worked in some of New York's top establishments, learned about Italian cuisine and its traditions, and was a contestant on Food Network's Iron Chef America. Burrell was born in New York State's Upstate, began to develop a passion for cooking. The Culinary Institute of America was the next stage for her following her graduation with the Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication at Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was an unforgettable learning experience for me. I was unable to learn enough, didn't do enough couldn't work hard enough. After graduation, Burrell spent one year studying in the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners as well as working at Umbria's La Taverna del Lupo as well as Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, a Michelin-starred restaurant. In Italy she gained a deep appreciation and understanding of Italian culinary and cultural traditions. This is a huge influence on the way she cooks. Burrell has been a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that aims to make a difference in children's lives who are facing problems. Burrell is also an Juvenile Research Foundation celebrity ambassador where she advocates for education about the condition known as juvenile diabetes. In her capacity as an inspirational speaker, she travels across the nation to speak about her passion for food as well as her career in the culinary field.
